5 years agoThree games back in the wild-card race, New York Mets starter Jacob deGrom kept their playoff hopes going with seven innings of shutout ball in an 8-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night. The 31-year-old righty allowed only four hits and walked no one, striking out nine over his seven frames. Lined up for one more start in the regular season, deGrom will have a great chance to put a cherry on top in his case for earning his second straight Cy Young, getting to face the basement-dwelling Miami Marlins on Sept. 25.--Nicklaus Gaut - RotoBaller
