3 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom will not pitch on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. deGrom last started on Wednesday against Milwaukee, so if he had pitched on Sunday it would have been on short rest. deGrom and the Mets have wisely opted to rest him despite speculation he may throw a few innings against Pittsburgh heading into the All-Star break. deGrom will now likely open the second half for the Mets on Friday against the Pirates in Pittsburgh. deGrom finished the first half with an elite 1.08 ERA, a 0.54 WHIP, and a ridiculous 146 strikeouts in 98 innings pitched. He is having a historic season and is an obvious must-start candidate in every fantasy format on the planet.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
