Jacob Nix Unravels Late In Outing
6 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Jacob Nix allowed five earned runs across six-plus innings in Sunday’s loss to the Colorado Rockies. Nix was cruising early but started laboring as the game progressed. He was lifted after letting two men on in the seventh inning and the bullpen was unable to strand the runners. He struck out four on the day while surrendering five hits and two walks. The rookie now holds a 4.85 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in five big league starts. Nix generated some streaming appeal after a one-run gem on August 28 but the lack of strikeouts (3.8 K/9) limits his upside, making him an option in only the deepest fantasy leagues.
