Jaime Barria Records Win Sunday After Call-Up
3 years agoLos Angeles Angels right-hander Jaime Barria (1-0) secured the victory in his first start of the season on Sunday against the Minnesota Twins. He went seven innings, allowing two runs, two home runs and two walks while striking out four. It was his first appearance since being demoted to Triple-A Salt Lake on May 19. Before this start, he struggled with a 10.50 ERA, five walks, one strikeout and no home runs in six innings of work. Barria has shown flashes of good pitching, posting ERAs of 3.41 and 3.62 ERA, respectively, in '18 and '20, but he struggled mightily in 2019 with a 6.42 ERA. As of now, Angels manager Joe Madden hasn't made it clear if Barria will get another turn in the rotation. If he does give Barria more starting opportunities, fantasy managers in deeper leagues could consider him a streaming option in hopes that he can return to his previous form.
