Jaire Alexander Hits Injured Reserve
3 years agoGreen Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander (shoulder) has been placed on injured reserve, putting him on the shelf for the foreseeable future. The move is not entirely surprising, as Green Bay mentioned letting Alexander heal from the ailment with rest, as opposed to undergoing surgery. Yet in the short-term, the move is a near death knell to the viability of the Packers defense in the overwhelming majority of season-long formats; the team will play four games in 18 days beginning Sunday, with matchups versus solid offensive units Cincinnati and Washington sprinkled in among a collision with the Cardinals' high-octane unit. Chandon Sullivan and Eric Stokes stand to see greater usage in the Green Bay secondary, though neither offers the lockdown skills that Alexander, a reigning Pro Bowl corner, does.
