Jake Arrieta Effective In Rain-Shortened Start
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Jake Arrieta tossed five innings of one-run ball and earned a win vs the Nationals Tuesday. Arrieta needed just 54 pitches to cruise through five innings, but a lengthy rain-delay prevented him from coming out for the sixth. Despite pitching well, Arrieta wasn't overly useful in fantasy as he had just one strikeout. This is part of what makes him a better pitcher in real-life as opposed to fantasy as his strikeout rate has been under 20 percent three straight years so is floor is low without much upside if he pitches well. He's a fine spot-starter when he has a good matchup, but the Braves will be a tough test in his next start.
