5 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Jake Arrieta (elbow) allowed two runs, one earned, in four innings pitched against the Giants Thursday afternoon. Arrieta has been pitching with bone spurs in his elbow and admitted after the game his elbow was "In a tough spot," according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Arrieta said he believes he can continue to make starts for the Phillies but fantasy owners shouldn't follow suit. Arrieta hasn't had a quality start since June 19 and has a 5.63 ERA since then with only 6.19 strikeouts per nine innings as the elbow issue is clearly affecting his performance. Arrieta will take on the Diamondbacks in his next scheduled start on Tuesday.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
