4 years agoChicago Cubs starting pitcher Jake Arrieta (thumb) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Tuesday. If everything goes well, Arrieta should be ready to go this weekend against the Detroit Tigers. Arrieta has been sidelined since May 4 with a right thumb abrasion. The veteran has performed well in his second stint with the Cubs and owns a 3-3 record to go along with a 4.31 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 31 1/3 innings. The veteran could be of some use for those seeking starting pitching help in deeper leagues, but managers may want to let him shake off the rust with a start or two before activating him.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
