5 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Jake Arrieta pitched four scoreless innings in a Spring Training start against the Tigers Friday. Arrieta didn't allow a hit, but walked four and threw a wild pitch. The veteran righty didn't strike out a batter, which is a continuing trend for Arrieta. His strikeout rate has dropped five straight seasons, bottoming out at 18.5 percent last year. He hasn't averaged more than a strikeout per inning since 2015 and he won't provide much ratio help either as his FIP and SIERA last season were over 4.80.
