Jake Cronenworth Powers Friars To Victory
3 years agoSan Diego Padres infielder Jake Cronenworth went 2-for-4 with a home run, and two RBI Sunday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Cronenworth accounted for both Friar runs in the 2-0 victory, singling in second baseman Adam Frazier in the first inning before launching an offering from D-Backs starter Madison Bumgarner into the seats in the fourth frame. Starting at shortstop on Sunday, the 27-year-old continues his stellar sophomore campaign, slashing .275/.348/.473 with 16 long balls, four steals and 128 runs-plus-RBI in 469 plate appearances. With shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) expected to get outfield reps upon his return, the versatile Cronenworth should become even more valuable to the Padres and fantasy managers with his positional versatility. He should be locked into lineups of all sizes.
