Jake Diekman Whiffs Two Angels In Clean Inning
3 years agoOakland Athletics relief pitcher Jake Diekman pitched a clean eighth inning with two strikeouts in a win over the Angels on Sunday. Diekman has been strong in a setup role for Oakland as he's got eight holds, a 3.18 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP, and 55 strikeouts in 39 2/3 innings. His 32% strikeout rate should keep him pitching in high-leverage situations as he's the best reliever in the Oakland bullpen when the A's need a strikeout. Right-hander Lou Trivino gets the bulk of the saves, but Diekman has seven saves on the season as he will get the occasional save chance if the opposition has lefties due up. Diekman is a must-roster reliever in leagues that reward holds and has deep league value for his strikeout upside from the RP spot.
