Jake McGee Earns 13th Save Of Season Monday
3 years agoSan Francisco Giants relief pitcher Jake McGee shut the door in Monday's 5-2 win over the Diamondbacks, earning his 13th save of the season. McGee entered the game to pitch the ninth inning up by three and pitched a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout to end the game. The veteran is now in the top-10 in saves this season despite sharing time in the closer's role with Tyler Rogers. McGee started the season as the Giants' closer, but has not seen as many save opportunities lately. However, he offers a more typical closer's pitch arsenal than Rogers, so it seems like the Giants may have a timeshare for save situations. McGee now has a 3.49 ERA and 31% strikeout rate on the season.
