Jakobi Meyers Targeted Three Times In Win Against Carolina
2 years agoNew England Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers caught one of three targets for four yards in Friday's 20-10 win over the Carolina Panthers. While he was held to one catch, the 25-year-old was the only receiver to play every drive with the starters. He is New England's primary slot receiver but is second on the depth chart behind former Miami Dolphins receiver DeVante Parker. Meyers and quarterback Mac Jones built a report last season, which led to a career-high 83 catches on 126 targets in 2021. It will be tough for Meyers to come close to that target share in 2022 as he is competing with Kendrick Bourne, Tyquan Thornton, Nelson Agholor, and Parker in a run-first offense. Meyers is expected to be available for next week's preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders and will look to rebound from Friday's performance.
