Jalen Beeks Optioned Back to Triple-A
6 years agoBoston Red Sox starter Jalen Beeks was optioned back to Triple-A Pawtucket after a volatile MLB debut against the Detroit Tigers. Beeks was torched for six earned runs over the course of four innings. He gave up seven hits, three walks and had four strikeouts. It was somewhat surprising that Beeks had such a struggle, as the lefty has fantastic numbers in the minors so far this season. Through 10 starts in Triple-A, he has a sparkling 2.56 ERA with a 12.78 K/9. This was always meant to be a spot start, and Beeks was going to be sent back down regardless of his performance. He should not be on any manager's fantasy radar for this season. Justin Haley was recalled in a corresponding move and will pitch out of the bullpen, while knuckleballer Steven Wright projects to take over Drew Pomeranz's rotation spot for the time being.
