5 years agoTampa Bay Rays pitcher Jalen Beeks is expected to pitch the bulk of the innings Friday behind opener Ryne Stanek. Beeks has been excellent this season with a 5-0 record with a 2.73 ERA. Despite the good surface numbers, Beeks has an xFIP of 4.47 and only strikes out 7.88 batters per nine innings. His 2 percent home run to fly ball rate is microscopic and more fly balls are virtually guaranteed to start flying out of the ballpark. He's had success following an opener, but he's not an advisable start in fantasy vs the Athletics who have the fourth highest team wOBA vs left-handed pitching and the second lowest strikeout rate.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
