Jamaal Williams Rests in Third Preseason Game
6 years agoGreen Bay Packers running back Jamaal Williams did not play in Friday’s preseason game against the Oakland Raiders. Williams is not dealing with an injury. He was one of many Green Bay starters that did not suit up for the game. Head coach Mike McCarthy usually plays his starters heavier minutes in the third preseason game, but he adopted a new approach in order to avoid injuries. Williams has been having an excellent preseason and training camp and has drawn a great deal of praise. There is even some speculation that Green Bay may utilize him as a bell-cow running back. Running back Aaron Jones is suspended for the first two games and running back Ty Montgomery injured his foot in the game. So Williams is in a position to receive a large workload early in the season. If Williams does get a big share of the carries, he would be a valuable fantasy asset who would produce like a high-end RB2.
