James Conner Garners 14 Touches In Opener
5 years agoPittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner took 10 carries for 21 yards and four receptions for 44 yards in Sunday's loss to the Patriots. Conner got taken out of the game plan early as the Steelers couldn't move the ball at all. The most consistent workload the 24-year-old received all evening was just before halftime when Conner took three straight toss plays in a row, which netted the offense just five total yards. It's good to see him getting so much work in the passing game, but if the Steelers can't get things going faster, Conner could be a real bust. It's still early so there's no need to overreact, but definitely be cautious of the game script. In Week 2, the Steelers get the Seahawks at home who will likely make life difficult on Conner again.
