James Conner Jockeying For Lead-Back Duties
4 years agoPittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner entered the 2019 year with considerable aplomb, before what ultimately turned into a season of pedestrian production. Splitting the difference between that year and his Pro Bowl campaign in ‘18, the Steelers’ lead back should be able to hold down RB2 duties in most season-long formats. The biggest concern for Conner is ultimately his durability, as he has missed eight games over the last two years. Even when able to suit up, the duo of Benny Snell Jr. and Jaylen Samuels showed in stints last season that either could handle starting running back duties, especially if the Pittsburgh offense returns to form in the passing game with Ben Roethlisberger back under center. Over the long-term, Conner will face two defenses twice in Cincinnati and Cleveland that ranked last, and third-to-last, respectively, in rushing yards allowed per game last season.
