James Kaprielian Fires Six Scoreless Innings In Surprise Start
3 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher James Kaprielian earned his eighth win of the season on Saturday night with six shutout innings versus the Angels. Where did that come from? Kaprielian had struggled mightily prior to this start as he had an ERA of 6.51 since July 27 and it was announced he would transition to a bullpen role. Daulton Jefferies was slated to make this start, but he was scratched with an elbow injury earlier in the day. Perhaps Kaprielian didn't overthink this start as it came as a surprise, perhaps he just dominated a weak Angels lineup, but either way, it was an encouraging outing from the 27-year-old rookie. Despite one good start, Kaprielian remains a high-risk fantasy option moving forward. He's scheduled to face the Mariners on Thursday.
