James Kaprielian Hit Hard By Mariners On Monday
3 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher James Kaprielian allowed four runs in 3 2/3 innings in a Memorial Day loss to the Mariners. Seattle used five hits and three walks to chase Kaprielian in the fourth inning after the right-hander threw seven shutout innings against these Mariners last week. Through four starts, the 27-year-old has a 2.95 ERA with 22 strikeouts in 20 1/3 innings. He's sporting a swinging-strike rate north of 10 percent and generated another 10 whiffs today on only 81 pitches. Kaprielian has long-term upside and is worth holding onto in fantasy leagues deeper than 12 teams. He should be left on the bench in his next start, however, as he'll toe-the-rubber in baseball's most hitter-friendly venue, Coors Field.
