4 years agoThe Oakland Athletics are summoning right-hander James Kaprielian to the big league club ahead of Tuesday’s contest against the Rangers with righty Jordan Weems hitting the injured list. The 16th overall pick in the 2015 MLB Draft, that was also the key cog in the ‘17 Sonny Gray deal, Kaprielian has dealt with arm injuries in the Minors. He battled back last season to produce a 3.18 ERA across three levels and 68 innings, although how long of a leash he will have with the Major League club remains to be seen. For now, owners in keepers and multi-year formats will be interested in the arrival of Oakland’s No. 11 prospect, but the A’s have shown an ability to get the most out of young pitchers, making Kaprielian a name to keep tabs on.--Jesse Borek
