4 years agoNew York Mets catcher James McCann continued to struggle at the plate on Wednesday, finishing 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in a 5-4 loss to the Braves. It's been a rough year for McCann early on, as he is slashing .202/.269/.242 over 30 games this season, but it's been even worse in the month of May where he is slashing .186/.239/.242 over 13 games. His Statcast metrics show no signs of hope for managers either, as he currently sports a career-worst 1.4 percent barrel rate while his launch angle has dropped from 15 degrees in 2020 to 9.7 degrees this season. He also owns a .203 xBA and .284 xSLG, so at this point it really seems like most managers can start dropping him from their rosters.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
