James McCann Homers Off Bench On Monday
3 years agoComing off the bench on Monday, New York Mets catcher James McCann went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and three RBI in the Mets 15-11 win over the Reds. McCann was sitting in favor of catcher Tomas Nido for the second straight game after going for 0-for-11 over his previous three games. Called upon to pinch-hit in the eighth inning on Monday, McCann promptly belted a two-run home run. He would later add an RBI single in the tenth inning. Overall, McCann has been somewhat of a disappointment batting just .247/.316/.379 with eight home runs and 32 RBI over 243 at-bats in 78 games, coming off of a solid 2020 campaign. Known to hit home runs in bunches, McCann may be on the verge of a hot streak given his performance on Monday. As such, McCann makes for a decent streaming option in one-catcher formats where managers have lost catchers due to injury. He could also be a sneaky DFS option on Tuesday against Wade Miley and the Reds in the tiny Great American Ball Park.
