James McCann On Track To Return In Early July
3 years agoAccording to New York Mets manager Buck Showalter, catcher James McCann (wrist) is about a month away from returning. He will begin taking dry swings within the next couple of days and is on track to return in about a month. The 31-year-old has been sidelined since May 11 with a fracture of the hamate bone in his left wrist. He underwent surgery and was initially expected to miss six weeks. McCann wasn't productive before injuring his wrist, slashing .196/.266/.286 with a homer and six RBI over 64 plate appearances in 2022. While McCann is sidelined, Tomas Nido and Patrick Mazeika will continue to handle catching duties for the Mets.
