James Paxton Back To Full Strength
4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher James Paxton (elbow, back) is reportedly fully healthy and back to normal, according to agent Scott Boras. Given that Paxton is a client of Boras and will be a free agent this offseason, Boras's claims can be taken with a grain of salt, and fantasy managers should be reluctant to trust Paxton's health until he can clear a physical for teams. Paxton underwent back surgery last offseason and struggled with diminished velocity and a 6.64 ERA over 20.1 innings this season before being shut down with a flexor strain in late August. If Paxton is back to full strength, then he'll look to build off of a solid 2019 season that saw him post a 3.82 ERA with a near-30% strikeout rate, and fantasy managers should be cautiously optimistic about a return to that form for now.
