James Paxton Set For Another Simulated Game Friday
2 years agoBoston Red Sox pitcher James Paxton (elbow) is scheduled to throw another simulated game on Friday. "He's in such a good spot now that it's not about the arm. It's about the pitch mix, the breaking ball, all that, said Red Sox manager Alex Cora. "When those guys start talking about that, you know they're over the hump. It's good." The 33-year-old threw two innings during a simulated game last Wednesday. He underwent Tommy John surgery in April and has been limited to just 21 2/3 innings over the previous two years. The southpaw could be cleared for a minor league rehab assignment. Paxton continues to trend in the right direction and is on target to return to action in early September.
