James Robinson Not On PUP List To Start Training Camp
2 years agoJacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson (Achilles) will not start training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list after suffering a torn Achilles in Week 16 of the 2021 season. Head coach Doug Pederson says that Robinson is "hopeful" for a mid-August return, which would be just seven months after he suffered the injury. If the 23-year-old is able to suit up in Week 1, it'll make the Jacksonville backfield a two-headed monster along with Travis Etienne Jr. It is unclear how much of a workload Robinson will be able to handle out of the gate, but Pederson views the third-year stud as a three-down back. Still, Etienne should not be ignored even if Robinson is healthy when Week 1 rolls around. The presence of one another likely puts a cap on each of their upsides, but Etienne could be the more appealing option in PPR formats because of his pass-catching ability and rapport with quarterback Trevor Lawrence going back to their time at Clemson.
