James Robinson "So Close" To Week 1 Return
2 years agoJacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson (Achilles) has been steadily making progress during training camp. Last week, he was taking part in team drills and making open-field cuts/moves. When interviewed on Tuesday, the 24-year-old described himself as "so close" to being ready for Week 1. He also expressed that he is "itching to get out there," but understands why the coaching staff is taking a cautious approach. The Illinois product had the backfield mostly to himself in 2021 because Travis Etienne missed his entire rookie season. With both now on track for the season opener against the Commanders, things become a little murkier. The sophomore Etienne figures to handle most of the passing work, while Robinson projects to receive more carries, including the goal-line role. This could limit the ceiling of both players, but each will have a shot to crack the top 24, depending on their role and workload.
