Jameson Taillon Bounced Early, Takes First Loss
7 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Jameson Taillon had his first hiccup of the season on Thursday, lasting only 1 2/3 innings in a loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. The outing was the shortest of his career, as the Pittsburgh Pirates ace was knocked around for five runs on four hits, two walks and a hit batter. The right-hander pitched a perfect first inning before everything unraveled in the second. Taillon allowed a leadoff homer to Rhys Hoskins before allowing the next three batters to reach base. He looked on the verge of escaping after punching out the next two batters, but a three-run single (yes, you read that correctly), a walk and another RBI single ended his day. Despite the brutal outing, Taillon still holds a 2.86 ERA and 3.32 xFIP through four starts. He'll take on the Detroit Tigers in his next start on Wednesday.
