4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Jameson Taillon notched his first victory of the season- and first win in two years- in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Tigers. Taillon pitched five innings, allowing one run on a trio of hits while striking out eight batters compared to three walks. The former Pirate made one mistake- a hanging slider left in the zone to Jeimer Candelario, who drove it for a solo home run- in an otherwise strong outing that saw him generate 16 swinging strikes, 10 of them on his four-seamer. Even against a subpar Tigers' lineup, Taillon put forth a very encouraging performance and could be in line for many more wins if he can pitch like this for the Yankees. He'll take a 29:5 strikeout-to-walk ratio into his next outing against the Nationals on May 7.--Tim Capurso
