3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Jameson Taillon didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 7-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox. Taillon pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on six hits. He struck out three batters while issuing one walk. Taillon's fastball continues to be an excellent pitch for him, as he generated 10 of his 14 swings and misses on the offering for a 37 percent whiff rate. This is the third straight start where the 29-year-old pitched well enough to earn the win but was left empty-handed. It's been a frustrating season for those who roster Taillon, though he's never been a better strikeout pitcher than he has been this year, which, along with his 3.80 expected ERA, gives hope that he can turn things around.--Tim Capurso
