Jameson Williams Unlikely To Be Ready For Training Camp
2 years agoDetroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell doesn't think rookie first-round wide receiver Jameson Williams (knee) will be ready for the start of training camp at the end of July. "I don't see him being ready for training camp. I'm very hopeful, but I don't see it," Campbell said. Williams is missing extremely valuable repetitions at offseason practices after tearing his ACL in the National Championship game in January, and it will likely take him a while to get up to speed in Detroit's offense in his first NFL season whenever he finally takes the field. Don't be surprised if the 21-year-old doesn't make his NFL debut right away either. Williams has a high ceiling as a pass-catcher, but he could struggle to produce consistently in his rookie season as he recovers from his knee injury.
