JaMycal Hasty Inefficient In Week 2 Of Preseason
3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back JaMycal Hasty earned the lion's share of carries against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, carrying 19 times for 58 yards. He's a second-year running back who went undrafted in 2020 but managed to produce a couple of good games during an injury-filled 2020 season for the 49ers. Hasty did catch all three of his targets for 21 yards, including a 12-yard reception. However, Wayne Gallman II averaged 4.8 YPC versus Hasty's 3.0 YPC, which is something to take note of moving forward. Trey Sermon and Raheem Mostert should be the top two ball carriers within Kyle Shanahan's run-centric offense while Jeff Wilson Jr. recovers from injury. This means Hasty and Gallman will likely rotate into the backfield and earn increased reps if injuries occur. However, Hasty isn't worth drafting as he is buried in a deep, talented backfield.
