Jared Walsh Won't Return This Season
2 years agoThe Los Angeles Angels moved infielder Jared Walsh (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list on Thursday, which will officially end his 2022 season after he was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome. In a corresponding move, the Angels claimed left-hander Rob Zastryzny off waivers from the New York Mets. He has been optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake. It's unknown if Walsh will need surgery for an issue that pitchers typically deal with. The 29-year-old was disappointing this year for the Angels, hitting just .215/.269/.374 with 15 home runs, 44 RBI, 41 runs scored and two stolen bases in 423 at-bats. Mike Ford got the start at first base on Thursday against the Tampa Bay Rays, but he figures to split playing time with Matt Thaiss with Walsh on the shelf.
