Jarred Kelenic Heating Up In The Minors
2 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic, who was optioned after going just 12-for-86 (.140) with three home runs, 10 RBI, nine walks and 36 strikeouts in 96 plate appearances to start the year for the M's, is heating up at Triple-A Tacoma. He has his slash line up to .297/.340/.565 with a .905 OPS, eight home runs, 24 RBI, 21 runs scored and two stolen bases in 32 games after going 12-for-31 (.387) with two home runs, nine RBI and four runs scored in his last six games for Tacoma. The 22-year-old wasn't called up when Taylor Trammell (hamstring) landed on the injured list this week, but Kelenic should come back up to the majors at some point in the second half of the season. Kelenic will need to continue making gains at the plate on the farm, as he's walked just eight times and struck out 41 times in 147 plate appearances.
