Jarrett Stidham Traded To Raiders
3 years agoThe New England Patriots are trading quarterback Jarrett Stidham and a seventh-round pick to the Las Vegas Raiders for a sixth-round pick. The 25-year-old Stidham was drafted by the Patriots in the fourth round of the 2019 draft out of Auburn. Once seen as a potential successor to Tom Brady, Stidham descended on the depth chart with the team's 2020 signing of Cam Newton and subsequently its 2021 first-round selection of current starting quarterback Mac Jones. Stidham has only seen the field sparingly in eight career games with zero starts, typically only seeing action when games have been out of hand. He had back surgery prior to the 2021 season, relegating him to third-string duties upon his return. Stidham is expected to compete with quarterbacks Nick Mullens and Garrett Gilbert to back up starter Derek Carr, but he is likely to remain behind all of them for now.
