Jason Heyward Done With The Cubs
2 years agoChicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward (knee) has been ruled out for the rest of the regular season. Also, the organization announced that Heyward won't return to the Cubs roster next season. The veteran outfielder is owed $22 million for the 2023 season, which is the last year on his eight-year deal. The Cubs will likely try to trade Heyward this offseason, but will most likely end up releasing him. Heyward struggled with a .245/.323/.377 batting line during his seven seasons with the Cubs. Although, he did win a few Gold Gloves and a World Series during his time in Chicago. It's unlikely he'll provide fantasy value anywhere, assuming he finds a new home next season. This decision allows the rebuilding Cubs to give some of their younger players more playing time in the outfield.
