Jason Heyward Scratched From Sunday’s Lineup
4 years agoChicago Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward was initially planned to be in Sunday’s lineup against Milwaukee and right-hander Josh Lindblom, but he was scratched prior to first pitch due to a tight back. Steven Souza Jr. took his place in the lineup and would presumably be the next man up should Heyward’s back ailment cause any kind of absence. Heyward is off to a solid start at the dish in 2020, having produced a 116 OPS+ through his first 16 games. While he is batting .280, his xBA of .324 ranks him in the seventh percentile of all hitters in the Majors. Primarily a medium-sized season-long fantasy option, Heyward’s next chance at rejoining the starting nine comes Monday in a doubleheader against St. Louis, who is yet to announce a starter for either game.
