6 years agoIn a result that can only be described as a minor miracle, New York Mets starting pitcher Jason Vargas made it two decent outings in a row when he pitched against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday. He may have taken the loss in a 2-1 defeat, but Vargas allowed only two earned runs across five innings pitched. He surrendered five hits and a walk while striking out four. Vargas didn’t allow any runs in five innings against the Atlanta Braves in his last start, but had allowed a minimum of four runs in four of the five outings prior. We’re still not trusting Vargas, not by a longshot, but perhaps he’s at least working his way into bottom-level streaming appeal against weaker offenses.--John Smith
