Jason Vargas To Pitch Simulated Game On Saturday
6 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Jason Vargas has been out of action since late June with a calf injury, but as he continues on the road to recovery he’ll pitch a simulated game on Saturday. He already threw a simulated game this past Tuesday, so it’s great news that Vargas felt well enough to progress to another one on normal rest. Who it’s not great news for is the New York Mets, since this means Vargas is one step closer to returning to the team’s rotation, where he’s not any kind of sure thing to improve upon his horrendous 8.60 ERA. Assuming his second simulated game goes well, Vargas will likely make a couple of rehab starts prior to once again being a prime contributor to more Mets losses.
