6 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Jason Vargas has maintained the position that he won’t miss much time, if any, after undergoing surgery on his non-throwing hand on Tuesday. He continues to back up statement; Vargas is set to throw again on Friday after doing so on Thursday. Assuming that goes well, it seems as though Vargas would have every chance in the world to pitch during the Amazins’ first turn through the rotation (assuming he can properly field his position). We would be on, at worst, him making his 2018 debut during the second turn through. Vargas isn’t much of a fantasy option, but could be a matchup-dependent consideration.--John Smith
