Javier Baez Sidelined For Third Straight Game
4 years agoChicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez (hamstring) will remain sidelined for the third straight game on Wednesday versus the Atlanta Braves. Baez underwent a MRI earlier in the day and it was revealed that he has a Grade 1 hamstring strain. Baez isn't expected to be placed on the injured list. The shortstop is hitting .234 with six home runs, 17 RBI and five stolen bases on the season. Second baseman Nico Hoerner will once again replace Baez and he will bat eighth versus Atlanta Braves starter Huascar Ynoa. Hoerner has been off to a nice start this season and has seven hits with three RBI over his first 18 at-bats. Hoerner could stick in the lineup as a second baseman even when Baez returns and he is worth a look in deeper leagues.
