Javier Baez Sidelined On Monday With Sore Thumb
3 years agoChicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez (thumb) will be sidelined on Monday versus the New York Mets. Baez missed four games with a contusion on his thumb, but returned on Friday and aggravated the thumb late in Saturday's game. Baez sat out on Sunday and remains sidelined to open the week. The upcoming free agent has been having a good year all across the board and is hitting .236 with 14 home runs, 50 RBI and nine stolen bases. Baez will once again be replaced at shortstop by infielder Sergio Alcantara. Alcantara will bat seventh against David Peterson. Peterson has been hit or miss this season and Alcantara makes for an intriguing cheaper option in DFS on Monday. Baez remains day-to-day.
