Javier Baez Will Miss Third Straight Game
3 years agoChicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez (thumb) continues to be sidelined with a thumb injury and will miss Wednesday's contest versus the San Diego Padres. Baez left Sunday's game early with a contusion on his thumb and has been absent from the lineup since. The upcoming free agent has been having a good year all across the board and is hitting .240 with 14 home runs, 39 RBI and nine stolen bases. Baez will once again be replaced at shortstop by infielder Sergio Alcantara. Alcantara will bat seventh and should be avoided in a tough matchup versus Yu Darvish on Wednesday afternoon. The talented shortstop remains day-to-day.
