7 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Jay Bruce isn’t in the lineup for the series opener against the Washington Nationals on Monday as he’s dealing with a case of plantar fasciitis. For those keeping score at home, Bruce also dealt with the injury throughout spring training but it never seemed to be a big issue. While this is the second consecutive game Bruce is missing, he plans to be back in the lineup on Tuesday. Bruce has gotten off to a bit of a slow start, slashing .239/.352/.413 with one home run, five runs scored, seven RBI and one stolen base across 54 plate appearances this season.--John Smith
