7 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Jay Bruce is heading to Texas after the game in Cincinnati on Wednesday for the birth of his second son. The expectation is that on Thursday Bruce will be officially be placed on paternity leave while the Mets do battle in Philadelphia against the Phillies over the weekend. Aside from the obviously great news of his child’s birth, Bruce could probably use the time off for health reasons. Plantar fasciitis seems to have taken its toll on Bruce’s production this year, and any rest he can get will be a good thing. It’s unknown when he’ll be back for certain, but a good bet would be on Tuesday when the Toronto Blue Jays come to Queens.--John Smith
