Jay Bruce Homers Twice
5 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder Jay Bruce hit two home runs in a win over the Mets Sunday. Bruce added an RBI single to complete his big afternoon against his former team. Bruce has a .271 average with a .583 slugging percentage since being traded from Seattle on June 4 and shows no sign of slowing down. He's hitting more fly balls than last year and making 48.2 percent hard contact since the trade, a big improvement from the 33.3 percent he made last year with the Mets. More hard contact and more fly balls have led his home run to fly ball rate to rise 13 percent from last year and the results have shown with his 10 homers in 26 games since joining the Phillies. He should be owned and started in most 12-team mixed leagues.
