Jay Bruce Placed On 10-Day Disabled List
6 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Jay Bruce was placed on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to June 18, due to a hip injury. Bruce has sat out four of the last five games due to the injury and now he’ll be missing time until at least June 28. After signing a three-year, $39 million contract with the Mets this past winter, Bruce has been a shell of his productive 2017 self. He’s slashing a poor .212/.292/.321 with only three home runs, 17 runs scored and 17 RBI across 236 plate appearances. Many have attributed his weak performance to the plantar fasciitis he’s been dealing with in his left foot, but he’s had that for a while and it’s not likely to ever go away completely. Hopefully the time away will get Bruce the rest he needs and he’ll return ready to produce again.
