Jay Bruce Returns To Mets On Three-Year Deal
7 years agoJerry Cransick of ESPN.com reports that free-agent outfielder Jay Bruce has agreed to a three-year deal worth $39 million with the New York Mets. Bruce was acquired in 2016 at the trade deadline by the Mets and flipped by the Mets to the Indians during the 2017 trade deadline. In 153 games as a Met, he hit .245 with 37 home runs. With Bruce in the fold, Brandon Nimmo will likely lose at-bats in the outfield. Bruce can also play first base, although, the Mets have one of their top prospects, Dominic Smith, currently penciled in for opening day. Bruce has always been a steady source for power in fantasy leagues, but it comes at the cost of a .249 career batting average.
