Jean Segura Without An Extra-Base Hit Yet In 2020
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies third baseman Jean Segura was shifted over to third base upon the acquisition of Didi Gregorius during the off-season, but it also came with the caveat that Segura would need to hit in order to maintain everyday duties. Thus far, he has begun the year hitting .172 with a .466 OPS across his first eight games. He is yet to have an extra-base hit or stolen base. A third baseman that has considerable pop? Top prospect Alec Bohm, whom manager Joe Girardi has discussed as a “possibility” to make his Major League debut this season. If Segura is to hold down his job for the foreseeable future, he’ll need to tap into the hitter that has produced more than 150 hits in each of the past four seasons. Segura is a tough player to roster in non-roto formats at this stage.
